Winston-Salem’s Novant opened a 36,000-square-foot women’s center at its SouthPark Medical Plaza in March. Due to Covid-19, the center relied on virtual appointments until recently. The women’s center, which has 10 specialty clinics, occupies the fourth floor of the $20 million, 120,000-square-foot medical plaza.
“We felt the time was right — that we were meeting a need that was out there and that women in general were looking for,” said Pat Campbell, system administrative executive at Novant’s Women & Children’s Health Institute.
Campbell said Novant has seen demand grow for more convenient and less time-consuming outpatient care. This particular concept has been in the works for years.
She said the SouthPark space also matched with what Novant was trying to create. The center is designed to be more relaxing than a traditional medical office with its concierge setup, a rose, white and tan color scheme and additional artwork. The waiting area offers charging stations and digital check-in.
