McCulloch England’s staff members volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina once a quarter. It’s a great time for team building and supporting a worthy cause, not to mention, we have a great time!
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM) strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. It is the largest hunger fighting agency in 19 counties of North and South Carolina. Last year, SHFBM distributed over 45 million pounds of food and grocery items to individuals in need through over 650 partner agencies.
Volunteers are an essential part in assisting SHFBM in accomplishing their goals. Volunteers help to sort, inspect and pack food and other items for distribution. Last year over 47,000 volunteers donated over 132,000 hours of their time and energies in the battle against hunger in our area.
One hour of volunteer time provides the Food Bank with $21.79 in labor savings.
